Classes
Toddler Dance- Our youngest dancers start in a 45 minute lesson in creative movement, playing games, singing songs, and learning the ways our bodies move.
Pre-School- In our 45 minute lesson our dancers learn basic ballet and tap movements in a positive and fun environment. Each class starts with ballet and transitions to tap.
K-3rd Grade- In this 1 hour combination class of ballet, jazz, and tap students will be focusing on basic dance skills, musicality, rhythm and fun!
The Dancers- Students in this intermediate class will continue to foster their love of dance, creative movement and skills. This 1.5 hour class will include ballet, tap, and musical theatre.
The Jr. M.a.D. Dancers- Lessons are 1.5 hours of stretching, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, tap and team building. These students are now in training to become M.a.D. Dancers.
The M.a.D. Dancers-The pride and joy of Marie Little Austin’s School of Dance- Students in this class have auditioned for their role on the team of the M.a.D. Dancers. Working together as a team the students will learn many different styles of dance and showcase their talent at local events and competitions.
Adult Class- Be ready to move- from stretching, jazz, hip-hop and tap we can cover it all! Come join the fun in this one hour class!
Private/Semi-Private Lessons– These lessons are available to individuals or a small group of students at ½ hours time. Style of dance to be determined between students and instructor.
Dance Attire
All students must wear dancewear, leotard, tights, etc.
- Pre-schoolers wear white ballet shoes and tan tap shoes.
- Marie and Dianne’s Dancers wear tanslip-on jazz shoes and tan tap shoes.
- The Jr. M.a.D. Dancers and the M.a.D. Dancers must wear black slip-on jazz shoes and black flat tap shoes.
- The M.a.D. Dancers are required to have black slip-on jazz shoe and dance sneakers.
See M.a.D. for more details. Mark all dance wear and shoes with student’s name. All students must have the appropriate dance wear & shoes by November 1st.
Dancers must wear their hair tied back for all classes.
Costume Information
Each class will order one costume. The costume fee must be paid in full by November 15th and is non-refundable. Costumes will be given out about 1 month before the recital.
Helpful Information
Parking: Park in the parking lot adjoining the dancing school and use the side entrance only. Please use caution when entering and exiting Hartsuff Street. Drive safely!
Drop off & Pickup: All students will be dropped off at the door. At the end of class, students can be picked up at the door. If parents need to come in due to payments, questions, etc please come in at the end of class.
Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Absent Lessons: Please try to limit absent lessons, as this affects the class progress. If your child will be absent for an extended period of time due to illness please inform Marie or Dianne.
Please do not bring sick children to the dancing school.
Beyond Weekly Lessons
Parades: Based on age and ability, students will be invited to participate in local parades, strolls and other events. Students will need a M.a.D. Dancer Track jacket and black pants, Black sneakers and white gloves.
Summer Dance Fun, February Fun, and Spring Fling: During summer break and most school vacations weeks we offer a fun dance program. More information about these programs are available closer to the dates.
Recital
Each June Marie Little Austin’s School of Dance puts on their annual recital. Students will be required to purchase a costume, tights, and required dance shoes. Recital weekend includes a private dress rehearsal on Saturday and a ticketed performance on Sunday. Tickets go on sale early June.
